The Sounds

The Sounds is the peninsula that is surrounded by the Albemarle and Pamlico sounds in northeastern North Carolina. It is home to many kinds of wildlife, including several endangered species, and to people and towns that can trace their ancestry to our country’s beginnings. The land is defined by its waters: estuaries, rivers and lakes that give life to those who live here, and enjoyment to those who visit.
