The Columbia Theater Cultural Resources Center is an ideal field trip for 4th and 8th graders studying North Carolina History, and as an extension for all grades visiting the Outer Banks. Students will learn how man has used natural resources to make a living and about everyday life in Tyrrell County. Programs available on Fishing, Farming, Forestry, and Tyrrell County History.
We offer a scavenger hunt worksheet to reinforce the educational process.
Admission for school groups is $1 per child and no charge for adult chaperones.
The Columbia Theater Cultural Resources Center is not just for kids! It is also a great place for adults to come and step back in time while expanding their knowledge of how we have used our land to make a living. Programs are available.

Beginning in April Scuppernong River Roaming Tour each Friday at 10:30.These trips allow passengers to enjoy the unspoiled beauty of the Scuppernong and to learn about surrounding habitats and some history of the Columbia area. While there is no charge for the trips, reservations are required. Call 252.796.1000 to reserve seats.Trips are limited to 10 passengers. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. No children under the age of 5. The trips leave from the dock at the Tyrrell County Visitor's Center.
